There was an absence of an effective single-window self-help tool for pension beneficiaries to know their pension status, submit requests for information updates, submit grievances, and receive information alerts and notifications sent by the Department.

As a solution, the ‘Dharohar’ App, conceptualised by the Department of Social Welfare, GNCTD, Delhi, was developed to be a one-stop solution for effective information access, query management, and grievance resolution for all pension beneficiaries.

Beneficiary Registration: For registration and identification, the beneficiary will have to enter their name, mobile number (verified by OTP), Aadhar, district, address (geo-tagged), and photo.

Once pension beneficiaries register themselves, they can:

• Check Pension Status: Access Pension Status for the Last 6 Months with status, account details, and the amount of the funds disbursed. If unsuccessful, the reason for rejection
• Request Information Update: The beneficiary can put a request for an update in the address, bank account details, life certificate, and mobile. Once the request is received by the admin, after validating the records, the information can be updated in the central database, and the status of the same can be tracked by the beneficiary inside the app.
• Add Grievance: The beneficiary can post any type of grievance from inside the application, which gets directly received by the corresponding district administrator for timely resolution. The app also has an in-built 2-way communication feature between the beneficiary and the district administrator for effective communication around the grievance.
• Information/Highlights: Beneficiaries will have access to important information alerts, notices, and circulars sent by the admin at any time with a push notification alert.
• Gallery and Useful Information: The application also has the Gallery and Useful Information section to help beneficiaries access any important video message from the Department or Hon'ble Minister. Also, the Useful Information tab can be used for reading information about the schemes being offered.
• Chat with District Admin: A two communication feature between District Admin and beneficiary for exchange of information and better coordination for early query resolution.

The application is bilingual and supports a Hindi and English interface. It's available on Android OS.
